The Indian stock market kicked off the trading session on a positive note on Thursday, with benchmark indices showing renewed momentum after recent volatility. The BSE Sensex climbed sharply, rising by roughly 200 points while the NSE Nifty hovered close to the psychologically important 25,500 level, reflecting cautious optimism among investors.

This upswing was largely propelled by strength in the information technology sector, which saw robust buying interest early in the day. Major IT players such as Infosys and Tech Mahindra emerged as some of the standout performers, leading the sector’s rally and lifting sentiment across Dalal Street. Other technology names also participated in the uptrend, helping the broader Nifty IT index climb higher.

Market participants noted that this positive momentum followed a period of pressure on tech stocks, which had faced selling over the past few weeks. The latest rebound suggests investors are increasingly comfortable with valuations and are willing to step back into quality IT names, especially after encouraging cues from global markets.

However, the market’s strength was not entirely uniform. While tech counters rallied, some other sectors like banking and power experienced mixed trading, with selective selling weighing down broader participation. This divergence reflects a cautious approach by traders optimistic but selective amidst ongoing macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainties.

From a broader perspective, global markets provided some support as well. Asian equities traded mostly higher, benefitting from upbeat sessions in the US and other regional benchmarks, which helped lift investor confidence in Indian markets.

Overall, Thursday’s session painted a picture of markets attempting to rebound from recent weakness, with strong technical buying in information technology stocks offering a constructive tone. While short-term headwinds and profit-taking cannot be ruled out, the current uptick underscores that investor interest is returning, especially where growth prospects appear attractive.
